GETTING STARTED

I have gotten three estimates now and they have a wide range who should I pick?
Never go with the cheapest estimate because chances are that you are not getting quality work. Between the middle and highest estimate should provide quality work. Ask for references and don’t be afraid to ask about the price and why they are worth more.

I have picked a contractor for work at my home but he wants the money up front. Is the normal?
No. Never ever pay someone all the money up front! Most good contractors require a 25%-50% deposit up front to cover their end of expenses. You should be able to trust the person you are dealing with and if you have a bad feeling about them don’t do business with them. Never go against your gut feeling.

Do you give free estimates?
Yes. We will come to your home and give you a basic inspection at no cost to you.
Can you do an estimate over the phone?

No, not an accurate one. We need to see the area that needs attention to determine the best solution.

MAINTENANCE AND WORK

How do I know when I have rotted wood?
If you notice your gutters hanging, sagging or leaking water in the corners. This is a good indication of rotted wood. Also check around door jambs, window ledges and side molding on home. If you notice rotted wood you should have it replaced immediately before it spreads and causes dangerous mold.

How often should I check my home for damage?
You should perform an inspection 3 times a year on your home.

Is there a paint that will stop mold?
No. However you can add a mold deterrent to your paint to help slow the mold process.

How much do you charge for painting a room?
It depends on the size of the room and if the walls need repair, is there trim to be painted? a ceiling? Again, we need to see it first to give an accurate estimate.

What kind of paint do you use?
We only use top quality paint from Sherwin Williams. Never use a cheap paint on your home because it will not last and does not provide good coverage or protection.

I have discovered rotted wood on my window seal and it’s pretty severe, do I have to replace the complete window now?
No. AllXteriors has a Master Carpenter who can safely remove the rotted window seal and replace it with a new one made of wood or vinyl.

My porch has columns and one has a lot of water damage at the bottom. Can it break off and my porch collapse?
It depends on the damage, but most of the time no. They should be inspected immediately upon you noticing the problem.

We need new gutters with protection what are the best gutters to go with?
There are lots of gutter protection systems out there. AllXteriors uses Alcoa leaf relief and Leaf-proof systems. Both of these are great products and work well. These are VERY AFFORDABLE systems that WORK. Many other systems work well too but cost way too much. Always remember, you shouldn’t have to take a second mortgage to pay for your gutters.

Why should I install a gutter protection system?
To prevent your fascia boards from being damaged and causing wood rot. Clogged
gutters can also cause interior damage on your walls and ceiling.

Does AllXteriors do interior work?
Yes! we do all ranges of interior work such as drywall repair, painting, plumbing, hang ceiling fans, ceiling leaks.

I have a roof leak.. where is it coming from?
It can be coming from different areas. The most common area is roof boots that fit around the exhaust pipes on your home. Clogged gutters and other areas may include damaged shingles. It’s important to have nearby trees trimmed so they don’t rub against your roof line causing damage to your shingles.
